How To Update Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 to ZCKH2 Gingerbread 2.3.4 Firmware

Procedure to update Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 with Gingerbread 2.3.4 update:

  • So, once you are done with the instructions which were mentioned prior to this, you are now all set to proceed for the instructions for applying this update of Gingerbread 2.3.4 on your Galaxy S2. First from your computer, you need to download the ZCKH2 Gingerbread 2.3.4 release Zip file in your computer. Now, once you finish downloading it, you need to unzip the same so as to get the files like the Odin and the firmware tool. Odin is the firmware flash tool with which you will be updating the firmware.

  • Please note that since the downloaded firmware file is the encrypted file, it will prompt for the password at the time of unzipping it. Enter the password as “androidadvices.com” after which the click on the “OK’ tab to unzip the files. Once the files are zipped match with the below image whether the extracted contents are matching with the below image as it should contain 2 files.

  • Just in case if any one of the file is missing, then you need to download the zip file again. Now, after this, from the extracted files, open the Odin Flash tool in your computer and turn Off the phone so that you can now enter into the Download mode.

  • The download mode can be entered by first turning Off the phone and then pressing  down on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. For your convenience, we have also made a short video wherein we have demonstrated on how you can enter into the download mode.

  • Now, once you enter into the download mode, you need to connect your phone to the computer while keeping the Odin as opened in your computer with the help of the USB cable which you have got at the time of purchase. If the device boots in the normal mode then you need to repeat the procedure to enter into the download mode by following the above procedure.

  • As soon as you connect the phone to the computer, you will see that the ID : COM block in the Odin will turn Yellow which means that all the necessary drivers have been successfully installed and you are now ready to proceed for the updation process.

Note: Ensure that all the Antivirus Solutions, KIES as well as the Firewall are completely disabled.

  • Now, when you have connected the phone in the download mode ON to the computer, you now will have to select the files in the Odin flash tool as per the below shown list.

Note : Ensure that the “Re-Partition” option is not ticked.

  • Now, after ensuring that all the files are selected according to the list above, you will now have to click on the Start but ensure that you are not interrupting the process of updation as it will take around maximum 10 -12 minutes to update the firmware. It sometimes may also take 3-4 minutes which is normal.
  • As soon as the firmware updation is completed, the device will be rebooting on its own and then you may be prompted to enter your language preference, select the same accordingly to proceed after which you will be then prompted to enter the Google Account preferences.
  • Now, that’s it you will now see the home screen on your phone which will meant that the firmware have been successfully updated on your phone. Now, next up you will have to enter in the recovery mode so as to clear all the cache files which are generated while updating the phone as this firmware also corrupts all the existing applications present in your phone.
  • Now to clear them up, you will have to enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing the Volume UP key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.

  • You will see that there will be many options, out of which you will have to choose options like Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition after which you need to reboot your device by selecting reboot system now after which your Galaxy S2 will be rebooting and again you will have to set up your Google accounts etc. Doing this will not only optimize the battery but will also remove all the data flux from your phone.

Note: Please note that after clearing the cache you will have to reconfigure the APN settings after updating the firmware to access the data services and the Internet services as all the Internet APN settings will be reset. You will have to contact your Service provider to get more info on the APN Settings. Not to forget also configure the MMS Settings.
