Procedure to Update Galaxy S III with Latest XXBLFB ICS Android 4.0.4 Firmware:
- Download ICS XXBLFB Android 4.0.4 ICS Package & Odin Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, extract both the zip files and Open Odin in your computer.
- Turn off your Galaxy S3 so that it can be then entered in the download mode. Download mode in Galaxy S3 GT I9300 can be entered by pressing Volume down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button after which you will get to see a green robot indicating that the device has entered in the download mode.
- Connect your phone in the download mode to the computer while keeping Odin opened. Once you connect, you will see that the ID: COM section will turn Yellow indicating that all the drivers have been successfully installed.
- Click on “PDA” to select the tar file to click on “Start” in odin. Once clicked on Start, it will take around 4 – 5 minutes for applying this update. As soon as the update is applied, the device will be restarting. As soon as you see the language preference options you now can disconnect the device from the computer.
- In recovery mode, select “Wipe data/factory reset” & “Wipe Cache partition” for clearing out all the cache data present in your device. Once it’s done, select “reboot system now”. As soon as the device is rebooted, you can check the same whether the firmware update has been applied or not from the path “Settings > About phone > Firmware version” where it will be mentioned as XXBLFB.
Tip: Just in a rare case if the device doesn’t boot up or gets into the continuous Boot loop mode, you need to reinsert the battery and boot the device normally. Or else you need to re-apply the update by following the steps above.
