Procedure to update Galaxy Y S5360 with Gingerbread DXKJ3 2.3.6:
- Download the Galaxy Y S5360 Gingerbread 2.3.6 Package from here to your computer and then you need to extract the same. ease note that in the process of the extraction, you will be prompted to enter in the password, enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.
- Once the files are extracted successfully, you now need to match with the screen capture of the extracted files, if any one of the file/s is/are missing then you need to again download and extract the same.
- Now, open the Odin executable file which is there in the unzipped folder and then turn Off the phone. Now, you need to enter into the download mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. To know more, refer to the below mentioned video.
- Now up next as soon as you enter into the download mode, you need to connect he phone to the computer while keeping the Odin opened in your computer.
- Once you connect the phone, the ID : COM section in the Odin will turn yellow which will signify that all the drivers have been successfully installed and you are now ready to proceed with the rest of the instructions.
- After this, click on the respective tab as shown in the below list and select the corresponding file.

- Once you select the file, check with the same again and click on “Start” to start the process of firmware update. It will take less than 5 minutes to finish the firmware update process. Once the firmware update is over, the phone will be rebooted
- Just in case to know whether the firmware has been successfully updated or not, you will need to check the same from the path of “Applications > Settings > About Phone” where you will find the firmware version mentioned as DXKJ3 2.3.6 Gingerbread version.
- Now, you will have to again turn off the device so that you can enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
- Now, in the recovery mode select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option.
- Note: Now, after the reboot of the phone you can restore all the data which is taken the backup of like the Internet Settings etc. which can be restored in the path of Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names. Just in case if you forgot to backup then you will have to contact your service provider so that the settings can be configured manually.
