Procedure to Update Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 with Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware:
- Download Gingerbread 2.3.6 DDKP2 Package in your computer and unzip the same. In the process of extraction, you will be prompted to enter in the password, enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas as shown in the screen capture below.
- Once the files are extracted, you will see that there will be 3 files in all which will contain Odin Flash tool, PDA file along with one supporting .dll file which you need to ignore it.
- Now, up next you need to open the “Odin” executable file in your computer and then turn Off your phone so that you can then enter your phone into the download mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
- Once you enter into the download mode, connect the phone to the computer using the Original USB cable after which ID : COM section will turn yellow which means that all the drivers have been successfully installed.
DANGER: Don’t proceed to the next step if the ID : COM Section doesn’t turn Yellow!
- After this, click on “PDA” tab in the Odin to select the file “I9003DDKP2_I9003ODDKPH_I9003DDKP4_HOME.tar.md5” from the extracted folder. Note: Match all the Settings which are there in the Odin including the “Re Partition” etc. Don’t select the option of “Re Partition”.
- After this, click on “Start” to start the process of firmware update and then it will take up to 10 minutes to update the phone. Once the firmware is updated successfully, the phone will be rebooted. To check whether firmware has been successfully updated or not, you will have to go to the path “Applications > Settings > About Phone” where you will find the firmware version as DDKP2 2.3.6 Gingerbread version. If the version is different one then you need to apply the firmware again.
(Optional) For users facing Force Close Errors:
- Just in case if you are facing force close issues in your phone, then turn Off the phone to enter into recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
- In the recovery mode select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option.
