Procedure to Update Galaxy Vibrant with ICS Android 4.0 Firmware:
- First up download the ICS Android 4.0 Zip Firmware Package, Vibrant Kernel and Super User Zip in your computer followed by which you need to connect the Galaxy Vibrant with the help of original USB cable so as to move this Zipped file in your phone.
- After moving the files, you now need to turn Off the phone so that you can enter your phone into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. In recovery mode, select options “Wipe data/factory reset”, “Wipe Cache partition”.
- After this once you are there in the recovery mode, select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the ICS firmware Zip file which you have placed in your phone. As soon as you select the Kernel followed by which you need to select Super user zip file. It will take up to 15 minutes to apply this firmware update.
- Once the firmware is updated successfully, you need to now clear the dalvik cache as well as the Cache in your phone. After clearing this, select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the Kernel file which you downloaded and placed in your phone from the first link.
- Once the process is done, select “++++ Go Back ++++” and choose “reboot system now” to reboot the system.
- To check whether the firmware has been successfully updated or not, you need to go to the path Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version where it will show Android 4.0 Firmware. Just in case if it shows any other firmware version then you again need to follow the instructions.
Note: Just in case if the device is rebooting again and again, then you need to re insert the battery and repeat the process of firmware update from the start.
