Procedure to update Samsung Nexus S with Ice Cream Sandwich:
- Before proceeding, download the latest version of Ice Cream Sandwich Zip File to your computer and then you need to connect the phone with the help of USB cable.
- After connecting the device, you now need to copy the downloaded ICS Zip file to the phone without renaming or modifying the file.
- Now, next up you will have to turn Off the device so that you can then enter into the clock work mod recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing the Volume Up button and then power On the device to enter into the recovery mode.
- Once you enter into the recovery mode, you will now have to select the option of “Wipe Data / factory Reset” and then choose “Wipe Cache” and also clear the “Dalvik Cache” so that all the cache files are cleared off. Please note that just in case if the device is loaded with any of the Voodoo tools then you need to disable them as these generally interrupt the process of the firmware update.
- Now, you need to select the option of “Install Zip from SD Card”, “Choose Zip from SD Card” and then select the file which is named as “”. Once the file is selected successfully, you will then have to wait for a time of around 5 – 8 minutes till the firmware gets flashed successfully.
- So as soon as the firmware is updated successfully, you need to choose the option of “++++ Go Back ++++” to get back to the main menu and then choose to “reboot system now” to restart the phone.
- Once the phone is restarted, you will now have to turn Off your phone so that you can then again enter into the recovery mode. In the recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option.
