Quick Pre Requisites:
- All the data in your device should be backed up with the help of below mentioned steps. Don’t back up the data with the help of KIES as you may face some issues in the process of restoration.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- Enable the USB Debugging Mode in your computer from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. Also, the minimum battery life should be a minimum of 40% or else there is a risk of device getting turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
- As this is the custom ROM firmware, Xperia SOLA must be rooted & Boot loader should be unlocked so as to apply this custom ROM firmware. With the help of simple instructions, you can root the device.

Procedure to Update SONY XPERIA SOLA with Kit Kat 4.4 Android Firmware:
- Download the CyanogenMod 11 and Google Apps from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your phone to computer and place the downloaded zip files in your device.
- Now, you need to enter your device in the Fastboot mode. Connect your Phone and then hold Power Down and Volume Up Key together to enter into Fast Boot mode. Press and hold the ‘volume up’ key while you connect the smartphone to the computer using a USB cable.
- Once your phone LED turns blue, open the fastboot folder on your computer. Open a ‘command window’ inside the fastboot folder to type the following command:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
- After the message “finished” appeared, disconnect the phone from the computer then turn it on while pressing the ‘volume down’ key continuously.
- Inside the recovery mode, select “backup and restore > backup” to save a copy of the current ROM.bPerform a full wipe by selecting “wipe data/factory reset” and “wipe cache partition” then “advanced > wipe Dalvik cache.”
- Install the CyanogenMod 11 by selecting “install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card > find the CM11 firmware > confirm installation.” Apply the same with the Google Apps package.
- Once the installation has been completed, go back to the main menu and select “reboot system now.” The smartphone will reboot and may take up to five minutes before reaching the home screen.
Note: In a rare case if the device refuses to boot or gets in the boot loop mode, long press the Power button to power off the device. You can also re apply the update by following the above mentioned steps for trying to apply this update again if it fails at first attempt.
