Procedure to Update VZW Galaxy Nexus with the latest Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware:
- Download Galaxy Nexus Tool Kit from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your device to the computer and place the update zip file in your VZW Galaxy Nexus.
- Up next you need to download the VZW Jellybean 4.1.1 Build & Google Apps from here to your computer. Place both these files in your device, ensure that you are not placing the file deep into the sub folders.
- Enter your Galaxy Nexus in the fast boot mode by pressing the Volume Up + Volume Down keys and then simultaneously press the power button to turn ON the device in the fastboot mode.
- Extract and open the toolkit in your computer. Connect your phone to the computer with the help of original USB cable and enter the appropriate option on which firmware your device is ON, like 4.0.2 or 4.0.3 or in 4.0.4 update.
- After entering the appropriate option, select the option of “9” and press enter to follow the on screen instructions. After this, press “1” and hit enter to process the command.
- VZW Galaxy Nexus can be entered in the recovery mode by pressing and holding the Volume Up + Volume Down and then press the Power button to enter the device in the recovery mode.
- In recovery mode, you need to select “wipe data/factory reset” > “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” to select the “Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware package which you have placed in your device and then followed by the “Google Apps Package”
- It will take around 4 – 5 minutes for applying this update. Once it’s done, the device will now land up in the recovery screen. In recovery mode, select “Go Back” and select “reboot system now” for rebooting the device in the normal mode.
Note: Just in case if the device refuses to start up or gets into the boot loop mode, you then need to re insert the battery and follow all the instructions mentioned above.
- To check on whether the device has been successfully applied or not, you can check the same from the path “Settings > About Phone” where it will show the current firmware as Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware.
