Update: Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has officially launched the world’s slimmest phone X5 Max in India, today. At 4.75mm, the Vivo X5 Max dethrones the recently launched Oppo R5 as the world’s slimmest phone that measures 4.85mm thick. Along with X5 Max, Vivo has launched its other smartphones including Vivo Y22, Vivo X 3S, Vivo Y15 and Vivo Y22.
The phone was announced on December 10 in China. It has a 5.5-inch full HD screen display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm 615 64-bit quad-core processor coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
On camera front, it has a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5 megapixel front camera.S per the claims made by Vivo, they have designed a motherboard for the Vivo X5 Max that is merely 1.7mm thin. The dual-SIM phone houses a micro SIM card and a nano-SIM card. Its memory is expandable up to 128GB.
Vivo have partnered with Viacom18 Integrated Network solutions that will help build up their brand in India. Vivo is the 6th largest company in China. Internationally Vivo is a leading Hi-Fi and smart smartphone brand well known for its innovative technology. Xiaomi, Oppo, Gionee, and many other Chinese brands have already set their base in India. Vivo will be importing handsets into India initially, and within 3 years they will start their manufacturing unit in India.

Vivo has officially launched the world’s slimmest smartphone X5 Max today. The world’s slimmest smartphone at just 4.75mm thin, the device uses a 3.98mm chassis which is said to be the thinnest among all phones
The Vivo X5 Max features a 5.5-inch 1080p super AMOLED display screen which is also the world’s thinnest screen with a thickness of only 1.36mm. It also features the world’s thinnest speaker box at just 2.45mm. The smartphone also supports Hi-Fi 2.0. The Vivo X5 Max comes pre-installed with the Android 4.4.4-based Fun touch OS 2.0.
The handset is dual SIM, with one slot for a Micro-SIM card and another one for a nano-SIM card or TF card. The super-thin smartphone is also 4G LTE-capable. The smartphone is powered by 1.7GHz 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. There’s 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 128GB.
The Vivo X5 Max comes with a 5mp front-facing camera and a 13mp rear-facing camera with a Sony IMX214 sensor. The device also comes with a Karaoke function and uses the YAMAHA YSS-205X CHIP, which is a feature that’s meant to make it a multimedia tool.
The smartphone will go on sale on December 22 for 2998 RMB. However, online shopping website OppoMart has the device listed for the price of $399.

Vivo has just released an X5 Max teaser poster in China. Vivo puts a prominence on the words “Hi-Fi”, “Slim” and Music is the main focus of the poster itself, judging by its background. If latest reports are to be believed, the phone could release in December.
Vivo X5 Max got certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent of the FCC) on November 5th. According to the listing, Vivo X5 Max will soon become the thinnest smartphone in the world and take the crown from Oppo R5, which is currently holding that position. Vivo X5 Max will allegedly be 4.75mm thick.

The smartphones are getting thinner every year, and 2014 has already seen a number of slimmer handsets. Last week OPPO had announced the R5 which is currently the thinnest smartphone at only 4.85mm thick. That title might be temporary as Chinese rival Vivo is expected to release an even thinner device that’s going to be called the X5 Max.
The upcoming Chinese handset Vivo X5 Max appeared on TENNA. The X5 Max is thin at 4.75mm, and it measures 153.9 x 78 x 4.75mm. The two previous record holders are close; Gionee Elife S5.1 measures 5.15mm and the Oppo R5 clocks in at 4.85mm thick.
In hardware front, Vivo X5 Max includes 1.7GHz octa-core CPU with 2GB of RAM. It will be accompanied by a 5.5” display at Full HD resolution, LTE support, a 13MP camera at the back, and a 5MP camera in front.
The final product can be even thinner as the OPPO R5 was originally certified at 5.5mm thick but turns out to be 4.85mm during the launch. Its earlier leaks suggest that the new Vivo could be less than 4mm thick as it was shown to be half the thickness of an iPhone 5/5S (7.6mm). This leads to speculation that it could be as slim as 3.8mm. There’s been no word on a price or release date for the Vivo X5 Max, but we expect to hear something soon.
