Xiaomi is all set to enter Indonesian market as company launched its Indonesia dedicated website today. Company has a nice way to tease about its product launch in various countries. In April, the Chinese manufacturer reportedly told about its plan to expand in up to 10 countries this year, which included Malaysia, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Russia, Turkey, Brazil, and Mexico. Following the Xiaomi’s launch over the past couple of months, it looks like company is entering into the listed countries in ascending order
With new mini site for Indonesia, company has also setup a Mi Indonesia Facebook page for Xiaomi fans in the country. That means the Android handset manufacturer has officially entered in Indonesia. Though, company has not revealed the exact schedule of launching the Mi products in the country. But on an interesting note, the newly launched Xiaomi Indonesia website asks one question to its visitors. What cool smartphone can you design with a budget of only IDR 2 million (approximately $171)? The website then allows you to design a cool smartphone in that budget, where you can decide the smartphone’s specifications like, display size, RAM, processor, camera, and battery based on its prices.
And at the end, the mini site will show you how you have performed in designing a cool smartphone, by scoring your entries. It then shows you how you have prioritized (based on mobility, fun, camera, or speed) when choosing an ideal smartphone for yourself, which you can see in the above image. Xiaomi also notes that users can win a phone or earphones if they like the new Xiaomi Indonesia Facebook page. Moreover, the price-tag of IDR 2 million (approximately $171) evidently suggests that Xiaomi would be bringing Redmi Note to Indonesia, while it might be the first handset to launch in the country ahead of the current flagship Mi 3. The Redmi Note is currently retailing in China for RMB 999 that roughly counts up to IDR 1.9 million ($162). Either way, it is reported that Xiaomi devices will be expensive than their Chinese counterparts due to the VAT and prepaid income tax in Indonesia.
However, you can expect Xiaomi to keep the lowest prices possible despite of the heavy taxes in the country. To remind you that Xiaomi is now present in seven markets including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and India, as Indonesia will be eight. And there are six other countries that Xiaomi has plans to start operations by the end of 2014.
