Xiaomi Mi 5 with Snapdragon 820 SoC & 16MP Camera Launched, Price Starts from 1999 Yuan

After the series of leaks and rumors, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi has today officially launched its flagship Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone at an event held in China. The Mi 5 is the most powerful smartphone launched by Xiaomi to date and is a complete package with powerful specifications and impressive design. Along with the Mi 5, the company also launched Ceramic Edition of the smartphone and is called as Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro. The smartphone will be available for purchase in China starting March 1 and will also be showcased at the MWC 2016 event in Barcelona

Talking about the specifications, the Mi 5 flaunts a 5.15-inch (1080×1920 pixels) full-HD display with curved glass, 95% of the NTSC gamut and 600 nits of brightness for brilliant viewing experience in bright sunlight. As said earlier, the smartphone comes powered by all-new 64-bit Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor clubbed with Adreno 530 GPU for flawless performance. The device supports dual sim dual standby and runs on latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MiUi 7 laid on top. The Mi 5 comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of onboard storage options while the Mi 5 Pro has 4GB of RAM and 128GB as its internal storage.

On the camera section, the smartphone features a 16MP rear camera with dual-tone lED flash, PDAF for quick focus, DTI pixel isolation technology, 4-axis OIS, Spectra image processor for incredible captures and is also capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps. On the front, it has a 4MP shooter with 2um pixel size for video chats and stunning selfie images. Connectivity options on the device include 4G-LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, Infrared blaster, NFC and microUSB Type-C port. The handset powers a 3000mAh battery and also supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

The Mi 5 comes with 3D glass unibody design and feels luxurious in hand metal frame around its sides. The smartphone sports a fingerprint sensor on the front that the company claims is the most accurate and smallest sensor available in the market. The dimensions of the device measure 144.5 x 69.2 x 7.25 mm weighs around 129 grams and comes in Black, White, Gold and Rose Gold color variants. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is priced at 1999 Yuan (approx $305/Rs. 20,970) for 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant, the 3GB RAM/64GB storage version costs 2299 Yuan (approx $352/Rs. 24,135) and the exclusive Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro Ceramic Edition with 4GB RAM/128GB storage is priced at 2699 Yuan (approx $413/Rs. 28,310).
