Yu, the subsidiary of the Micromax, launched its first smartphone “Yureka” in India at a price of Rs 8,999. The Yureka smartphone runs on Cyanogen OS 11, built on Android 4.4.4 OS and sports a 5.5-inch 720p HD display. It also comes with 4G LTE support. Yu offers the kernel source, full Android build tree and allows users to root their phones.
Following is the detailed guide to unlock the bootloader
Pre-Requisites
- Download the ADB_fastboot.zip for Yu Yureka smartphone and extract it to a folder on PC.
- You need to enable USB Debugging/Android Debugging. Follow these steps:
- Go to settings> About phone > tap on build number repeatedly, till “You are a developer now” appears .
- Now, again go to settings>developer option> check on the “Android debugging” option.
- Create a backup of all the data present in your device.
- Make sure that your Micromax Yureka device has a minimum of 50% battery life.
- Also, make sure that all required drivers are there in your computer for connecting your device.
Steps to Unlock the Bootloader
- Switch off your Yu Yureka smartphone.
- Connect your device to PC by USB data cable.
- You will see the notification light of your Yu Yureka will glow “RED”. Now press Volume Up button, till it boots to the fastboot screen.
- Now open command window on your ADB Fastboot folder (press ctrl+shift and right click).
- Type the following command in the command prompt window and press enter.
fastboot -i 0x1ebf oem unlock
Your bootloader is now unlocked.
