The flagship lad from Samsung, the Galaxy S4 smartphone can now be manually updated with the latest Jellybean 4.3 Android OS which is JWR66V. Though Samsung did clarify unofficially that its working on the jellybean 4.3 and will soon be releasing it all across the devices very soon. Please make sure that you have followed all the list of quick pre requisites which we have summed it below to make sure that the device is updated with the firmware successfully.

Note: Applying this firmware update won’t void the warranty in any manner as it’s an official firmware leaked out from Samsung and is not a custom ROM firmware. Also, applying this update manually won’t root the device.

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • Data in your Galaxy S4 should be backed up with the help of below mentioned steps so as to make sure that just in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps,

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Enable the USB Debugging Mode in your computer from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. Also, the minimum battery life should be a minimum of 40% or else there is a risk of device getting turned Off in the middle of firmware update.

What happened to my comment? You took it off?

All I was telling you is that your instructions require a .tar file and that is not there; so either put the .tar file in the download, or change your instructions so that people understand how to load a .zip file on Galaxy S4.

    Dear,

The file(s) you offer for download are simple .zip files… the instructions you provide are for .tar file! Please make up your mind and publish a correction soonest…you are confusing a lot of people with this!

This is not an ODIN flashable firmware… they are simply ROMS. Please fix text.

Once you download these files, and extract them there are no tar files. hence you would need to load them on to your phone via a custom recovery, such as TWRP, or Clockworkmod Recovery. you can only do this if your phone is rooted. Unfortunately with the update that went out from AT&T in the last couple of days ,that would be nearly impossiable.
