How to Re-Lock Boot loader of Sony Ericsson X10 Mini, X10 Mini Pro and X8

Xperia Pro LogoSo, for all those who have installed the latest versions of the custom firmwares and due to some reasons just in case if you have now messed up with the phone, we will now see in the due course of this article on how you can re lock the boot loader so that you can then claim the warranty from the Sony Ericsson. So, the devices which we will see on how you can unlock the boot loader are the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini Pro and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 phones.

Please note that this procedure will only be valid for the users who are either on the custom ROM firmwares or the firmwares which are the beta releases. Also, additionally this method of re locking the boot loader should only be followed by the users who have unlocked the boot loader. Just in case if you have unlocked the phone which was previously used to be the network locked phone then you will have to be careful while performing this procedure as re locking the boot loader will again lock the phone and then you will be only able to access the network which was initially locked to.

Before proceeding you will have to ensure that the phone is charged to the minimum of 75% so as to just ensure that the phone doesn’t get turned Off in the process of re locking the boot loader. So, now when you have charged the phone you will need to proceed to the next step wherein you will have to create the backup of data present in your phone.

  • The data which you need to backup includes the SMS, Contacts and other data like APN Settings which are generally stored in the phone. For your simplicity we have listed below the ways with which you can easily create the backup of the data.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
ContactsSync with the Gmail application,
Call Log -Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Ensure that you take off Sim card, memory card if any from your phone till the firmware is updated, once the firmware gets updated successfully you can then put back the sim card as well as the memory cards.

  1. The S1Tools.exe does NOT have the “Restore” function nor the “Identify” function…Just “Do Job” function!!
