Acer has announced the successor to the Liquid Z3, with the Acer Liquid Z5 Android smartphone being made official with the 5-inch touchscreen and some mid-range specs, and with the Essential White and Gentle Grey colors. The 5-inch touchscreen has the FWVGA display with the screen resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, and there is a wide bezel around the display.
What comes under the hood of the Acer Liquid Z5 is the 1.3 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor which comes along with the Mali 400 GPU and there is a support by 512MB of RAM which isn’t really very much helpful in heavy multitasking. Running the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, the Acer Liquid Z5 comes with the DTS Sound technology with the speakers on the bottom. There is also the Acer RAPID design for the one-handed control for the unlocking and waking up of the screen, launching of the camera, taking a picture, launching apps from the home screen, and picking up calls.
The Liquid Z5 has a 5-megapixel rear camera with the 5 elements f2.4 lens and the LED flash, while there is a 0.3-megapixel front facing camera. It is a Dual SIM device and it supports the 3G HSPA+ connectivity with the other options being Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR and GPS. There is an internal storage of 4GB and an expandable storage to 32GB with MicroSD card.
There are quick mode profiles such as the Basic Mode, Senior Mode, Classic mode and Keypad mode, and the Acer Float User Interface keeps the app windows open for better multitasking. The battery in the smartphone has a capacity of 2000 mAh. The Liquid Z5 is going to be available in the France, Benelux, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Ukraine and UK market for the price of 169 Euros from mid-January 2014.
