Alcatel has kept on working on the One Touch series of Android smartphones, with the latest launch of the two smartphones – Alcatel One Touch Idol S, and the Alcatel One Touch Idol Mini which are both coming in with the compact design and the slim profile. The One Touch Idol S is a slim device with the thickness of 7.4mm, and it comes with a 4.7 inch IPS display, having a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It comes with the Dragontrail Glass screen and the Oleophobic coating with the full lamination.
Internally, the Idol S is powered by the 1.2 GHz Dual-core processor and 1 GB RAM. The device runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and on the rear side, there’s a 8 megapixel camera with the LED flash, Autofocus and the video recording possible at 1080p Full HD resolution. On the front side, there’s a 1.3 megapixel camera with the HD video recording.
There’s a big list of connectivity options available on the One Touch Idol S, and this includes the 4G DC-HSPA connectivity at 42 Mbps, 5.76 Mbps uplink, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetootrh 4.0, GPS. The internal memory available on the device is 4GB, of which the user available storage is 2 GB, and the storage can be expanded externally using the MicroSD card for the storage expansion.
The camera comes with some advanced features such as the Panorama mode, the HDR mode and face detection, continuous capture, ZSL. The Idol S comes with the intuitive and easy-to-use One Touch UI that shows the simple icons, easy interface with the multiple home screens, pre-installed apps etc.
The Alcatel One Touch Idol S is coming in three color options – Slate, Fresh Rose and Cherry Red. This is a single SIM device with the body being intact and the user getting the option to place the SIM card on the side panel. There’s no actual details given about the pricing and availability of the device in the market.
