Earlier this year Alcatel OneTouch launched the OneTouch Idol 3 in its flagship Idol line. The device drew a lot of praises as it carried a price tag of $250 with some good upper mid-range specifications, and it was also the company’s first flagship that released globally. Now, Alcatel OneTouch has arrived with the successor of Idol 3 at IFA 2015 called Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3C. Idol 3C is similar to Idol 3 the only difference is it comes with a more colorful design. We have seen a lot of devices releasing this year with similar specs, but Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3C is the most colorful device among them.
Like Idol 3, Idol 3C also features a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 * 1080pixels) IPS display with Technical Color Enhance technology. Under the hood is the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz alongside Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB RAM. The device has 16GB built-in storage, microSD card support for expansion upto 128GB and comes powered by a 2910mAh battery.
The camera sensors are similar to Idol 3 as it sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP shooter on the front for selfie clicks. The device supports dual sim dual standby with 4G-LTE connectivity and other basic connectivity options like Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB 2.0. The device runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, and its dimensions are 152.7 * 75.1 * 7.9 mm.
It is not the specs but the design of Idol 3C that makes it different from other devices it holds a very quirky design as its top and bottom are completely symmetrical and its UI is programmed to allow upside down view and even upside down calls as it sports dual mic. So, actually speaking there is no top and bottom side for this device. It also has dual JBL powered stereo speakers on the front side that also feature Harman Clari-Fi technology with this we can expect some powerful sound quality.
The Idol 3C comes with various replaceable back covers making it a colorful device. They come in five colors: white, lime green, yellow, purple and red. The pricing and availability of the device are not yet revealed but looking at the specifications it is expected to be priced around $250 and $270.
Along with Idol 3C, Alcatel OneTouch has also announced a couple of devices in its Pop Series: Pop Up and Pop Star at IFA. Both the devices feature a 5-inch 720p display and sports a almost similar specifications except the camera while the Pop up sports a 13MP snapper the Pop Star has the lower 8MP camera. The pricing and avilability of these devices were also not revealed by the company.
