Today, Google has released its monthly update to the Platform Versions page for Android. Lollipop, the latest release, has just in the last 30 days rise up to pass 12% adoption, following an overall market share of 9.7% that 5.0 and later had at the beginning of last month. Android Lollipop now has 12.4% of the Android market.
Android 5.1 is installed on just 0.8% of all Android devices. Nexus devices are the only ones currently rocking Android 5.1 Lollipop, although that’s set to change over the course of the next couple of months. The 5.0 version of Lollipop, on the other hand, is much more popular, with a share of 11.6%.
KitKat has around 39.2% share of the market The three iterations of Android collectively called Jelly Bean are in second position, with 37.4% share right now, down from 39.2% a month ago. Then we have Ice Cream Sandwich with 5.1%, Gingerbread with 5.6%, and Froyo with 0.3%.
Last month, the percent of devices running on Lollipop were 9.7%. Kitkat decreased to 39.8% from the 41.4%, where Jellybean dropped to 39.2% from 40.7%. The versions of Android running on less than 0.1% of devices are not included in the list. Android 2.2 Froyo had a low percent of 0.3%, in the coming few months we may not see Froyo including in the list. Android 2.3 Gingerbread accounted for 5.7% of the devices and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich had 5.3% of active devices running in the last month distribution figures.
