After many concepts, it’s now a reality! We are talking about the new redesigned version of “Dropbox” which is now available for download. With streamlined design and uploading / sharing options, the new design is simple to use and also is no less than a visual treat for the users who are being loyal to Dropbox despite availability of ample options like Google Drive, Box, SkyDrive etc. etc. I have been personally using Dropbox since ages and would like to tell you that this new update feels no less than a new app.
While the design standards of Dropbox were always questioned by some serious design folks since 2007 and even now when it’s valued at $10 billion. The sign-up window on the new app displays how you can send and access files from anywhere. Search was not placed conveniently in the earlier version of Dropbox, but now all thanks to the new design which comes with the search magnifying glass at the top. More options are tucked under the bottom arrow symbol which is located on the top right. Castellarnau and his team devised a main menu of just four which are files, photos, favorites (for offline access of files), and notifications. These 4 buttons are replacing the tap bar which was otherwise filled with icons earlier.
Key sharing controls — and common file actions like favoriting, moving, and renaming — in the same place across the app. The new update also comes with the new animation which briefs through quickly on what’s new in the app. One can also refer to the video below for more info.
