In the world of droids where cheap Android handsets are ruling it over and smart phones tends to come cheaper from time to time. But Boeing an American aerospace and defense company is all set to come out with high end smart phone on the Google’s open source Android operating system.
So called Boeing Phone will come out with high end securities and it’s clear that it will not be competing with BlackBerry, Apple products directly. These phones will not be available for normal users as Aerospace giant has claimed that these phones are designed for the United States government for defense and intelligence purpose. Boeing phone will offer secured version of Android OS with customization over the default layout and secured voice communication and data usage. These encrypted mobile phones are right now priced at anything more than $ 10,000 and Boeing will lower down the price.
This news will certainly hurt Research in Motion as they right now cater their phones to US government but Android’s high level of flexibility is something which can boost additional security and making it more competitive. Boeing executives revealed this to National Defense Magazine early today, they are near the end of the development cycle and they will make this available by last quarter of 2012. Nothing has been said about the features, Android version and actual price and we will come to know more about this smartphone when the launch is near.
