Procedure to Update Samsung Epic 4G with EC 05 Froyo 2.2 Firmware:
- Before proceeding you need to first up extract the downloaded firmware zip file which you downloaded from the last page in your computer preferably to the desktop. In the process of extraction, you will be prompted to enter in the password, enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.
- Now, once you extract the same you will get to see the files which are mentioned in the below screen capture. Please note that none of the files should be missed out, even if single file is missing then you need to check with extraction or need to download the zip file again.
- Now, turn Off the phone and open the Odin flash tool from the extracted files. Up next you need to enter your phone in the download mode. The download mode in the Samsung Epic 4G can be entered by long pressing 1 and then press the power button after which you will get a yellow triangle. Now as soon as you see the yellow triangle, you will have to connect the phone with the help of USB to the computer while keeping the Odin as open in the computer. You will get to see the screen which is mentioned in the below image.
- Now, connect the device to the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase while keeping the Odin opened in your computer.
- As soon as you connect the phone to the computer, after a minute the ID : COM section in the Odin will turn yellow which will mean that all the drivers have been successfully installed and you can now proceed to selection of files in the next step.
- Now, you need to click on the “PDA” tab in the odin and need to choose the file which is named as “”. You can get this file from the extracted file which you did in the first step.
- After selecting the files, you will have to now wait for the process to get over and then after few minutes of time the device will be rebooted and then you will find that the Samsung Epic 4G will now be on the latest 2.3.3 Gingerbread version.
- Once the firmware is updated successfully, the device will be rebooting automatically and then once you see the Google Account preference or the Language preference screen or even the home screen, pull out the connected USB cable and that’s it thee you go you have now successfully un bricked the phone or say have now successfully reverted back to the original and official firmware for your Samsung Epic 4G device.
- For checking whether the firmware has been successfully updated or not, you will have to go to the path “Applications > Settings > About Phone” where you will find the firmware version as EC 05 Froyo.
Note: Do remember to restore all the backups taken and also not to forget, you need to configure the APN Settings so as to access the EDGE / 3G in your phone.
