Galaxy S I9000

Galaxy S & Tab to get Value Pack instead of Full ICS Update

Galaxy S ICS.4.0There were rumours that Galaxy S will not get Ice Cream Sandwich and we were sure of it as it has hardware limitations. For Ice Cream Sandwich to run smoothly on your device, your phone should have sufficient RAM and ROM which weren’t adequate enough on Galaxy S phone. Along with first generation of Galaxy S phone, the Galaxy Tab too lacks in hardware requirements for Ice Cream Sandwich update. The decision by Samsung to skip Galaxy S from Ice Cream Sandwich update disappointed many of the Galaxy S users and upon speculation around, Samsung came out with the news that instead of Ice Cream Sandwich update, the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab users will get the Value Pack instead of official Ice Cream Sandwich update.

So what does this Value Pack brings in for the Galaxy S users? The reports say that this value pack update will provide improvements in web browsing, multi tasking and new widgets overlays. However the device Android version will be Android 2.3 but not Android 4.0. Interesting point to observe is that the Galaxy Nexus S phone has similar specifications as that of Galaxy S and yet it will receive the ICS update but Galaxy S will not, appears like Samsung had problems with TouchWiz user interface.

As far as we know Ice Cream Sandwich update for Galaxy S will not arrive but looks like value pack will arrive soon.
