Google Android TV Announced with built-in Google Cast, Movie & Game Content – Details

Google, at the Google I/O 2014 keynote, announced Android TV, a platform that that will run on set-top box hardware similar to Apple TV and Amazon. We have been hearing about the Google TV’s from quite a time now and it is nothing new to us. Earlier Google came up with its Google TV back in 2010 and that was made by the combo of Logitech and Sony later LG and Asus partnered to make the second generation of this Google TV. Last year we also saw Google coming with its Chromecast as the replacement to its Nexus Q that was cherished a huge successes that went on sale for $35.

What Does Android TV Do?

Basically Android TV will let you to broadcast content to your TV along with the option of searching for a popular app, games or movie. Moreover this device can also take voice commands and search for the content. You can also find the Google Knowledge Graph enabled with it that make your searches easier and quicker. This TV will be featuring the UI of Android L and also has the support for HDMI, IPTV and others.

In terms of its built, the Android TV is a small rectangular box that is smaller than the normal router that we use and also smaller than the Xbox One and Sony PlayStation.  It has a many pre-loaded apps lint the Google Play Store, YouTube, Tuneln, Songza, Netflix and few others. Apart from these the device gives you the options like setting you brightness, has the Bluetooth options to transfer files and you can always have an eye on the amount of storage capacity left.

Android Tablets can be used to control the Android TV’s while playing games and all the 2014 Sony and Sharp 4K televisions will be supporting this Android TV. Moreover Google also patched up with NVIDIA to create an Android TV development kit powered by Tegra that is available from today. In the Google I/O event, it was announced that Sony and Sharp will be producing Android powered TV’s and set-top boxes that are expected to be launched in 2015.
