We use our mobiles and tablets for email and texting, shopping, playing games, photos, videos, music playback and doing lot other things. Doing all these things with your tablet can take a lot of battery power and that means that you need to continuously charge it up. As Android Honeycomb powered tablet mostly have high-end configuration, as spotted models are Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Asus Transformer make us to use our tablets for video recording, video calls and music playback. Lastly we are much addicted to social network connect that we check for updates every now and then.
Saving the battery on the hand held devices is very important. It’s quite important to know how to make the battery last longer. Saving the battery on the Honeycomb powered tablets is very easy and effective. Using few of the common batteries techniques can be helped to power up your tablet for longer usage as possible.
Honeycomb Tablet Power Management
- Tap on “Apps” from any homescreen on your tablet.

- Now tap on to “Settings” and select “About tablet“.

- Now tap on to “Battery usage” which gives you insight to which apps or programs uses how much level of battery. There is insight preview on how much power they consume out of total.
- Display Screen Settings: As you can see on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, the screen consumes more power. Now you need to make sure that can you compromise to adjust settings or wants to continue in the same way as it shown to you now. You can optimize your screen settings so as to save power on display screen. That is done by reducing the screen brightness or the screen timeout.
- Now to do that touch ‘display settings‘ and then select brightness or timeout and adjust it accordingly to your requirement.

- Auto Sync Settings: Now tap on to “Account & Sync” options from the settings. As observed on Android most of the power is consumed during the continuous sync or background sync of various accounts like your Gmail account, Facebook sync.

- From “Account & Sync” select “Background data” and touch OK after reading the prompt. This is one of the major contribution to the battery saving on your Android mobile and on the Android Honeycomb tablets. But only thing you are sacrificing here is that you need to manually sync or update applications.

- Close Background Applications: Once you start an application (Android market apps), it runs continuously on the background until you close it and as long as it runs it will consume continuous battery though the battery consumption is limited but overall it has effect on battery level.

- You can do it by going into Apps > Settings > Applications > Running Services and you would get the list of applications and services running on your tablet. Now select the apps which you have finished using.

Also most of the power consumption is due to the display screen or due the Wi-Fi usage. And if you are using the option of Wi-Fi hotspot then you battery would drain out quickly.
