How To Update Verizon Samsung Galaxy TAB to EC02 Firmware

verizon wireless Tab LogoIf you are on Verizon Wireless and if you are fed up with several issues which has been creeping up till now on your Galaxy Tab then Verizon has finally decided to lend in the ears to you as Verizon Wireless comes out with an update which is dubbed as EC 02. With several optimizations with this update, now the Android laden Galaxy Tablet owners have a reason to cheer. So, let’s check out what are the exact enhancements and optimizations which have been done with this update also we will check out on how you can update your Verizon studded Galaxy Tab.

Improvements in the Software Update:

  • Increased browser performance and Speed
  • Wi Fi hot spot search time lowered which will result in lesser battery drain
  • Hyperlinks can now be accessed directly from your email
  • Email time stamp will be matched with the time displayed on the Tab’s status bar
  • Manage 200-2003 Word Documents attached in the mail,
  • Send multiple name cards
  • Open large attachment Video files directly from email
  • Font same is now same across all functions in email
  • In the alarm feature, the second alarm will still sound even if you snooze the first alarm
  • Adobe flash player by default updated to 10.1.95.2 but you can update it to Adobe Flash 10.2 from here.
  • Time Zone setting of calendar events is now fixed.

Instructions before Proceeding for Update:

  • First up you will have to ensure that you are on Galaxy Tab powered with Verizon Wireless  after which you will have to ensure that you have an at least 50%  of battery power so that update gets successfully completed.
  • Next, since the update size is of 34.6 MB, you should either have a 3G data plan or WiFi will be the best option as it’s an update over the air (OTA).
  • Since you are updating the firmware, you will have to ensure that you have taken the backup of all your data or else data will get lost in your Galaxy Tab.

Procedure to update the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab:

  • If you manually search for the update once or gets any notification then you will have three options as shown below, “Install Now”, “Install later” and the “More Option”. If you choose to install later then after every 30 minutes the pop up will come up and you will be asked to update the same. But if you choose to select “Install Now” then your device will first be rebooted automatically and then the updation process will be started automatically.

  • If you choose to select or tap on the More Info tab then you will be able to see the screen below as shown in the form of screen shot. So, now after you receive the notification, now all you need to do is to manually start the process to update your Galaxy Tab by going to “Home” > “Menu” > “Settings” > “About device” > “System updates”. Press “Restart & Install”. Your device will power off and back on and the installation process will begin on its own automatically.

Please note that if any process is interrupted or the battery goes off then you will have to start the process from the beginning and also its not advised to interrupt while the Tab is updating.
