Procedure to apply Cyanogen Mod 7.1 update in HTC Incredible 2:
There are basically two ways with which you can apply the update of Cyanogen Mod 7.1 release in your phone, one is by using the Recovery mode and another one is by the ROM Manager method. We will see both the methods as just in case if you are unable to update through the first method then you can apply with the second procedure.
Recovery Mode Method:
- Download Cyanogen Mod 7.1 Update Zip file for HTC Incredible 2 and also the latest version of Google Apps into your computer or laptop. Now, connect the phone to the computer in the mass storage mode and copy these two downloaded zip files as it is in the phone without modifying the name of the files or else it will not be recognizing the files.
- Once you place the files, you now need to turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing the Volume down button and then Power ON the device. Once you get into the recovery mode, use the Side volume keys to select the option of “Backup and Restore” to backup the current installed ROM on your HTC Incredible 2.
- Now, you will also have to additionally select the option of “Wipe Data / Factory Reset” along with the option of “Wipe Cache partition” and then choose the option of “install Zip from sd card” and select the zip file of Cyanogen Mod 7.1 for HTC Incredible 2 which you have placed in the phone first and then the zip file of the Google Apps.
- Now as soon as the firmware is updated successfully you now need to select the option of “++++Go Back ++++” to get back to the main menu and then choose the option of “Reboot System now” option after which the phone will be rebooted and you will be on the Gingerbread 2.3.7 powered by the Cyanogen Mod.

ROM Manager Method:
- First up you need to download and install the latest version of ROM Manager application in your HTC Incredible 2 from the Android Apps Labs.
- Open the ROM Manager application from your phone which will be there in the “Applications”. Once you open this you will have to then tap on the option of “install zip from SD Card” > “Choose zip from SD Card” and then select the both the zip files which you have placed in the phone which are the Cyanogen Mod 7.1 and also the Google Apps one after the other.
Once, both the files are installed successfully just select the option of “Reboot System now” to reboot the phone after which you will see that the latest version of Cyanogen Mod 7.1 will be updated in your phone.
