Huawei Ascend P1 Launched in US – Specs, Features, Pricing and Availability

Huawei has launched the Ascend P1 device in the US market, and it is the unlocked version that would be available for the users, without the hassle of being tagged to a single network. The Android phone with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS might not be a big hit there because there are several devices with the similar specs but the latest OS versions like the Android Jelly Bean 4.1, but the pricing of $449.99 could be something that would attract the customers.

The phone was announced an year ago, but the US availability is being made now. As a disappointment for the US customers, this isn’t the 4G LTE version of the phone, and that one was available in the last quarter of 2012 in the UK market. Huawei has set it to sell through Amazon, and so there would be no network carriers which would sell the device through their network. The Ascend P1 has a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with the screen resolution of 950 x 540 pixels, and the phone from the side is just 7.69mm in thickness.

Although its the Android ICS in the phone right now, it can be upgraded to the latest version of the OS later on. There would be the Dolby Mobile sound powered audio output in it, and there are two camera in the Ascend P1, the rear shooter being an 8 megapixel one while the front shooter is a 1.3 megapixel one. There is 1GB of RAM supporting the 1.5 GHz Dual-core processor internally and the battery has a capacity of 1670 mAh. We have no information about the internal memory in the phone, but it for sure is expandable with the MicroSD card.

Huawei is set to launch at least three high-end devices at the CES 2013 in Las Vegas, and there would be quite a few mid- and high-range devices announced at the same time, but the way they delay bringing out these devices into the market, would make people lose their interest. The three phones that we have confirmed coming at the CES are the Huawei Ascend D2, the 6 inch Ascend Mate phablet and the Windows Phone 8 powered Ascend W1.

“The Ascend P1 is perfect for consumers looking to get the most out of their device,” said Michael Chuang , Executive Vice President of Huawei Device USA. “Whether it’s for playing games, streaming music and videos, or sharing multimedia in the home or workplace, the Ascend P1 offers unparalleled performance and a truly unique mobile experience.”
