Huawei Y3 with 4″ Display Launched as the UK’s Cheapest Smartphone

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei launched an entry-level smartphone in the UK dubbed as Huawei Y3. Carphone Warehouse currently sells the smartphone, and it is claimed to be the cheapest smartphone in the country. The main highlight is the price of the Huawei Y3 it costs mere £59.99 ($92 approx) off-contract for the unlocked version.

The smartphone can also be purchased on-contract without any upfront cost at just £5 per month from telecom operator iD. The two-year contract gives you 150 minutes, 5,000 texts, and 250MB of 3G data each month. Additionally you can also pay £44.99 to get unlimited minutes, unlimited texts as well as 10GB of 3G data from EE.

Coming to its specifications, the Huawei Y3 comes with a 4-inch 480×800 pixels TFT display offering a pixel density of 233ppi. It comes powered by Spreadtrum 7731 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz paired with 512MB RAM, 4GB built-in storage and microSD card slot for expansion upto 32GB. The device comes backed by a 1730mAh battery that can last upto 7 hours 30 minutes of talk time.

On the camera front, the smartphone sports a 5MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 2MP front shooter for video calling and selfie clicks. The device comes with standard connectivity options like 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-fi GPS/A-GPS and microUSB port. The handset runs on Android 4.4 KitKat based Emotion UI 3.0 Lite on top of it and is available in Black and White color variants. The dimensions of the smartphone measure 122.6 x 63.8 x 10.9 mm and weighs around 120 grams.

To recap, Huawei has recently launched a mid-range smartphone in China dubbed as Honor 5X priced at 999 Yuan for the 2GB variant and 1399 Yuan for the 3GB variant. The Honor 5X features a 5.5-inch FHD display, Snapdragon 616 SoC, 2GB/3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB built-in storage, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front shooter and 3000mAh battery with quick charge 3.0 support. The smartphone also features a fingerprint scanner on the rear side and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
