Gionee had launched the Marathon M3 smartphone, late last year. The Marathon M3 is the first Android smartphone that boasts of a 5,000mAh battery. Gionee Marathon M3 has a 5-inch IPS display with 1280*720 pixels resolution. The phone comes with 1GB of DDR3 RAM and 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded MicroSD card up to 128GB. Marathon M3 is powered by a MediaTek’s quad-core Cortex-A7 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, which comes with Mali 450 GPU as the dedicated graphics card.The phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
Following is the detailed guide to installing custom recovery on Gionee Marathon M3 smartphone. Custom recovery is needed to flash the customized versions of the Android operating system.
QUICK PRE-REQUISITES:
- Ensure the device battery is charged enough to prevent unexpected device shutdown (due to battery drain) while installing a custom recovery.

PROCEDURE TO INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY ON GIONEE MARATHON M3 SMARTPHONES:
- Install the flashify app from play store.
- On opening the app, a disclaimer will appear. Click on the “Accept”.
- Now click on “Recover Image” option and next select “Choose a file”. Here, select the custom recovery file you downloaded earlier.
- Flash the recovery by clicking on “Yup!”.
