Lenovo has announced two new Android tablet devices in the Yoga series, which is the name given to them to maintain the branding which they are using for the laptops in the Yoga series. The Lenovo Yoga tablets would be available for sale in the US market right away, and then could follow in the other markets later on. The company had recently launched the Lenovo A10 Android based laptop but these two tablet devices are quite different from that. These two tablets are quite similar internally, but the major difference is the screen size.
The screen resolution on both the devices is 1280 x 800 pixels, and the processor in them depends on the variant – Wi-Fi or the Wi-Fi + 3G one. These are the Mediatek chipsets – 1.2GHz MT8125 quad-core processor in the Wi-Fi one, while a 1.2GHz MT8389 quad-core processor in the 3G model. The RAM included is 1GB, and these run the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. The internal storage options included in these tablet devices are either 16GB or 32GB, and the battery is said to provide at least 16-18 hours of usage.
“Watching and discovering that people frequently use tablets in three main ways allowed us to break the mold on the current ‘sea of sameness’ designs, giving them a better way to read, browse, watch and interact with content,” said Liu Jun, senior vice president and president, Lenovo Business Group, Lenovo.
Ashton Kutcher has been roped in as the Brand Ambassador for the company, and he would be actively working along with the Engineering team of Lenovo for the development and promotion of the Yoga line of tablet devices, focusing on the aspects such as design, specifications, software etc. The pricing of these tablet devices based on the storage is not yet given, but following are the prices for the 16GB one.
The Lenovo Yoga 8-inch Android tablet is priced at $249 while the 10-inch one is priced at $299 in the US market. This would be followed by the launch in the Australian market. Some of the stores in US where these would be available, include Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Fry’s, Newegg.com and www.lenovo.com. Apart from the tablet, there is a Bluetooth keyboard available for the 10-inch model, which would cost $69.
