Basically there are two ways of applying the OTA update out of which one is the OTA User initiated and another one is the Server initiated.
Procedure to update LG Revolution with Gingerbread 2.3:
OTA User Initiated:
- From your home screen, you need to first go to the path of “Menu > Settings > System updates > Check Now” after which you will see the screen which will be appearing as shown in the below image.
- Now, as soon as the download is done, you need to tap on the OK button after which in the next 3 minutes the updates will be applied successfully after which the device will be automatically rebooting and will show the progress bar along with the installing icon. So, as soon as the update is finished, you will see the message as “Update Successful” after which just tap on the “Ok” button to finish the update process.
- To check whether the firmware has been successfully updated or not, you will need to go to the path of “Menu > Settings > About Phone” from your home screen where you will find the version of current firmware as “VS910ZV7”.
Just in case if you are unable to apply the update from the above procedure then you need to wait for the official OTA Push to you after which you need to follow the below procedure to update.
OTA Server initiated:
First up you will be notified on screen that your device has an update as shown in the below screen capture. Once you see this, tap on the “Ok” option to proceed the downloading of the firmware.
As soon as the download is finished you will have to tap on “OK” to install the firmware and in the mean while the device will be restarting on its own. Please note that just in case if the update fails to get installed and if you see the error screen then you need to re insert the battery and then again wait for the OTA to arrive or you can follow the first step to apply the update.
