Samsung Galaxy W I8552 Android smartphone can now be updated with the latest Jellybean 4.1.2 Android version which just got released from Samsung. While it’s still not clear on whether the device will get the much needed Jellybean 4.2.2 / Jellybean 4.3 update, you can update with this 4.1.2 version manually just in case if you didn’t get this update via OTA. This firmware of Jellybean 4.1.2 is dubbed as XXAMH2 which promises to fix the camera bug and overheating issues which was also there in earlier build of Jellybean. So, before proceeding to apply this update, make sure that you have followed all the list of quick pre requisites.
Applying this update won’t root the device / void the warranty in any manner. This is the Official firmware released by Samsung.
Quick Pre Requisites:
- Create a backup of all the data with the help of below mentioned steps manually and not with the help of KIES.
Note: Don’t backup the data with the help of ROM Manager as it may brick the device completely.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging” enable the SUB Debugging Mode. Minimum charge left in your phone is 30% or else there is a risk of device getting turned off in the middle of firmware update increases which may even brick your Galaxy Grand.
