Manual Update Nexus 4 with Official Kitkat 4.4.4 KTU84P Firmware – Easy Guide

This new update is dubbed as  KTU84P version which ropes in the Kitkat 4.4.4.

P.S – Please be informed that applying this update manually won’t root or void the warranty of your Nexus 4 android smartphone in any manner.

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • Create a backup of all the data in your LG Nexus 4 Android device so as to make sure that just in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored easily. Don’t make use of any automated tools for backing your data as it may not help you restore the data.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore

Procedure to Update Nexus 4 with Official Kitkat 4.4.4 Firmware Update:

Download Android 4.4.4 KTU84P Factory Image in your computer and connect your Nexus 5 device to the computer with the help of original USB cable.

Turn Off your Nexus 4 Android smartphone so that the device can be entered in the fastboot mode.

Press and hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power until you see the Fastboot screen. After this, you need to use the Volume buttons to highlight the “Recovery Mode” and press the power to confirm the same.

You need to extract the downloaded image file ion your computer’s desktop and navigate to the occam-KTU84P and then copy and paste all the files to your Fastboot directory.

Please make sure that the Fastboot directory should be the platform-tools folder in your Android SDK directory.

Using the factory image files in your Fastboot directory, execute the following commands depending upon the OS installed on your computer:

  •  On Windows: Run the file “flash-all.bat”.
  •  On Mac: Run the file “flash-all.sh” using Terminal.
  •  On Linux: Run the file “flash-all.sh”.

 

Once the above commands are executed in the command prompt, you will see that the installation process will begin of which you can see the instructions on your device’s screen. Once the update is applied successfully, the device will be rebooted on its own.

Note: If your device gets stuck, you need to long press the power button to turn Off the device and follow all the above instructions after restarting the device.

Navigate to the path “Settings > About Phone” to check the current firmware version as Kitkat 4.4.4 KTU84P.
