Manual Update Nexus 4 with Official Kitkat 4.4.3 Android Firmware

KitKat 4.4.3 firmware update is now a reality and for all those users of Nexus 4 wants to update the device manually can do so. Quick Pre Requisites:

  • All the data in your Nexus 4 android phone should be backed up with the help of below mentioned manual steps.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”, ensure that USB Debugging is enabled in your Nexus 4 smartphone. Also make sure that your Nexus 4 is left with a minimum of 50% battery life.

Procedure to Update Nexus 4 with Kitkat 4.4.3 Android OS:

  • First up you need to connect your Nexus 4 Android phone using the original USB cable and make sure that the Fastboot is configured successfully in your computer.
  • Turn off your Nexus 4 Android phone and Reboot into Boot loader mode by pressing and holding the Volume Up, Volume Down and Power keys at the same time. A Fastboot menu and START text will appear on the screen.
  • Now you need to open the folder “occam-KTU84L” and copy paste the files in the fastboot folder. Make sure that fastboot folder in the “platforms-tools” folder.
  • Open the command prompt in your computer and enter the below mentioned command;

flash-all.bat

  • The whole process of firmware update will take around 3 -4 minutes and once done, the phone will be rebooted automatically.

Note: If at all your Nexus 4 smartphone gets in the boot loop mode, then you need to turn off the device and then reapply the update from the start.
