HTC One X smartphone gets the 2nd update internationally and this time it fixes most of the issues related to the Google Play Store as well as the Screen brightness issues. There is no exact change log available as of now yet for this update 1.29.401.7, this update isn’t huge but is having a size of 35MB which is a good amount of size to fix all the prominent issues. Though we managed to pull out the update file manually, unfortunately there are no instructions on how one can apply this update. But as in when we come across a method to manually update your One X with 1.29.401.7 update, we will update the same in this article with the instructions.

Essential Pre Requisites:
- Though there is no advisory issued by HTC on whether the data will be lost or corrupted in the process of applying this firmware, it’s highly recommended to back up the data with the HTC Sync or manually with the help of below mentioned steps. Just in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be easily restored with the help of below mentioned steps.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- Minimum charge left in the device should be at least 60% so as to ensure that device doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
- Enable the USB Debugging in your Huawei media Pad from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked.
- Disable all the antivirus suites in your computer and uninstall the same in your device as these tools generally tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.

Procedure to Update One X with Update 1.29.401.7:
- First up, if you are having an International version of HTC One X, head over to the path Settings > About > Software updates after which you will get a message on whether you have got an update of 1.29.401.7 or not. Ensure that you have an active data connection and then you need to just follow on screen instructions to apply this update.
- If you haven’t got the OTA update, then you need to proceed to the instructions below so as to manually try updating your HTC One X.
- Download the 1.29.401.7 Update Zip file (Alternate Link) for HTC One X from here to your computer and then connect your device to the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase.
- The Boot loader mode in HTC One X can be entered by pressing Volume UP Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. If the phone boots in the normal mode then you need to try again to enter into the recovery mode.
- In the boot loader mode, you need to select “recovery” so as to enter into the recovery mode. Now, in the recovery mode, you need to select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose Update.zip which you have placed in your phone and confirm the same by pressing the Power button.
- Once the device is updated successfully, the phone will be landing back to the recovery mode screen. Please note that the whole process may take around 3 – 4 minutes for applying this update. After this from the recovery mode, you need to select“++++ Go Back ++++” > “reboot system now” to reboot the phone. Please note that it will take more than normal time
Note: At any point of time just in case if the process of firmware update gets stopped due to any reason, all you need to do is restart the process from the start by re inserting the battery.
