When compared to the high-end Android phones of Samsung, the HTC ones have a little lesser quality of performance of the Wi-Fi connectivity, and when someone is far away from the Wi-Fi router the reception is very less and on testing it, the Samsung Galaxy S II and Motorola Droid Razr have got a better Wi-Fi reception than the One X. But HTC isn’t letting the users stay with the poor connectivity always, and there is a setting where the performance of Wi-Fi can be made better.
Here is how you can do that. Go to Settings section in your One X interface, and under the Wireless and Network settings, open the Wi-Fi section and turn it on. On the top right side, you would see the Menu option, on clicking which you would notice a dropdown menu with a few options to select. Here, you need to select “Advanced” to open the advanced Wi-Fi settings where all the settings include the IP address, the login options, the Wi-Fi activation and deactivation time, the notification settings etc.
In the same section, you would see an option “Best Wi-Fi performance” which is set as Off by default, and there would also be a warning message saying “May consume more power”. It does consume a little more battery than the normal Wi-Fi because the phone intentionally tries to pull in more network from the router.
So this option is not totally an advantageous one, but when you are downloading something and want to get it done faster, this trick would work pretty well. Remember to switch this option Off when you are not in a need of a faster network and a normal Wi-Fi connection is good enough for the same.
This trick of improving the Wi-Fi performance works not only with the HTC One X, but also the other two in the series, i.e. the One V and One S phones which all have pretty similar settings in the network and connectivity section.
The HTC One X is a pretty decent phone with all the high-end specifications and this could be one of the best recent devices lately, but as we compared the connectivity, it did lag behind the others by small margins.
