The Indias second largest smartphone maker, Micromax today launched a new budget mid-range smartphone expanding its canvas series named as Micromax Canvas Mega (E353). The smartphone is available in Slate Grey color variant and is available for sale exclusively online via Flipkart priced at Rs. 8,320.
Coming to its specifications, the Canvas Mega as the name indicates features a large 5.5-inch (720×1280 pixels) HD IPS display offering a pixel density of 267ppi. The smartphone comes powered by MediaTek’s Octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz paired with Mali 400 GPU. It has 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card slot upto 32GB.
On the photography front, the device sports a 13MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing shooter for video calling and perfect selfie images. The device supports dual sim dual standby and comes with standard connectivity options like 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and a microUSB port.
The smartphone comes backed by a 2820mAh battery that is rated to last upto complete one-day on mixed usage. The handset runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and like other Micromax smartphone also comes with lots of preloaded apps. Though the Canvas Mega packs some decent specifications, the company has definitely missed the trick of including 4G-LTE connectivity that is available in most smartphones at that price range these days.
To recap, Micromax has recently launched a new budget-friendly smartphone under its Bolt series called as Bolt Q332 priced at Rs. 5,249. The smartphone features a 5-inch FWVGA display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 512MB RAM, 2GB internal storage, 5MP main camera, 2MP front shooter and 2000mAh battery. The handset runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and also is termed as “pocket home theater,” as it comes with built-in speakers offering an output of 96dB.
