Motorola Droid BIONIC – Steps to Install Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 Firmware

Procedure to Update Motorola Droid BIONIC with ICS Android 4.0:

  • First up you need to Root the Motorola Droid BIONIC followed by which you need to also install Custom Recovery IMAGE before you proceed to apply this update.
  • Assuming that you have followed the above instruction clearly, you now need to proceed to Download the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 for Droid BIONIC Zip Package to your computer. Please note that you should not change / modify / rename the file which you have downloaded in your computer or else it won’t get detected in your phone.
  • Please note that just in case if you which to backup the current firmware which is there in your phone then you need to download the ROM Manager application in your phone and then you need to backup the same by following the Simple on screen instructions which is what we recommend.
  • So, as soon as the file gets downloaded, connect the Motorola Droid Bionic in your computer and then copy the downloaded zip file in your phone. Please ensure that you are using the Official USB cable which you got at the time of purchase.
  • Now, remove the connected USB cable and then you need to enter the Motorola Droid Bionic into the recovery mode.

Droid BIONIC RECOVERY MODE

  • Once the device gets into the recovery mode, you need to now select the option of “install zip from SD card” and then “choose zip from SD Card” after which you will see the list of files which are there in the phone. From the list of files, first you need to select the file which you have placed in the phone.
  • As soon as you select the files you will then need to wait for the upgrade process to get completed and then once it gets completed you will either land up again on the recovery mode screen or the phone will be restarted, just in case if the phone gets restarted you will then you will be directly on Ice cream sandwich 4.0 Android version.
  • Once the update is applied successfully, if you get back to the recovery mode screen, you need to select “++++ Go back ++++” & choose “reboot system now” for rebooting the phone.
  • Please note that just in case if you face any issues after turning the device ON, get into the recovery mode first and then you will have to select the options like “Wipe data/factory reset”, “Wipe Cache partition” after which select the option of “reboot system now” as this will clear out all the data which is there in the cache.
