The Ice Cream Sandwich so-called Android 4.0 update for many phones is still a waiting. Rumors turned out to be delayed and as promised by Sony Ericsson that they would offer Ice Cream Sandwich update to the Xperia range of mobile phones, went with no further update on the news. Many devices still await the Android 4.0 update and thanks to LG Electronics that they have now provided a brief schedule news on when will be the ICS made available to those devices. Remember that we are talking about the official ICS update which will be made available directly through phone but not the custom firmware update.
LG Electronics will offer Ice Cream Sandwich update to many of their Optimus based Android phones through a global update schedule. These updates will be made available worldwide to the consumers. Earlier devices were reported with ICS update as early as January 2012 for Optimus 2x and Optimus 3D but now news comes from LG that they will provide the upgrade begin of the second quarter of 2012, i.e., April 2012. The following smartphones models will get the update –
- LG Optimus LTE
- LG Prada
- LG Optimus 2x
- LG Optimus Sol
- LG myTouch Q
- LG Eclipse
Also LG officials made announcement that they will provide upgrade to ICS for LG Optimus 3D, LG Optimus Black, LG Optimus Big, LG Optimus Q2 and LG Optimus Ex in the third quarter of 2012. The exact dates on the launch of this Android 4.0 is not yet known and clearly it’s around 100 days or 180 days await for the Ice Cream Sandwich on your LG phone. Optimus Hub has been launched in India at a price of Rs 12,999 to compete with Samsung Galaxy Ace and LG Optimus Net is a dual SIM phone launched early in December. Also LG has made announcement that they will come strong in year 2012 by launching more than 50 handsets all based of Android operating system.
