Oppo has recently launched two new smartphones, the N3 and R5, the latter being the slimmest phone in the world. But the company seems to be on a roll, with benchmarks indicating that a new phone might be on its way already. Before releasing two new smartphones, the Oppo N3 and R5, the company was posting small details on the internet, and we knew almost everything about it before it was official. Nothing has changed with the new, Oppo U3 as rumoured specs have appeared on GFXBench.
U3 is shown to be a 4.6-inch handset with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. It will have plenty of power thanks to a MediaTek MT6752 1.7GHz octa-core chip, and an ARM Mali-T760 will handle the graphics. The rest of the Oppo U3 specs include 2GB of RAM, a 12MP rear camera, and a 4.7-inch front-facing sensor. The storage is listed at 1.1GB which is odd, but something we’ve seen in leaks before, and the usual options are listed like WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. As you’d expect, it will run Android 4.4.4 KitKat and should get an Android L update sometime down the road.
China-based Oppo recently unveiled its new R5 smartphone, which is more thinner than Gionee ELife S5.1.The Oppo R5 measures just 4.85mm thin, compared to the 5.1mm Gionee ELife S5.1. It’s the thinnest smartphone in the world. That title might be temporary as Chinese rival Vivo is expected to release an even thinner device that’s going to be called the X5 Max. R5 is even too slim to fit a traditional headphone jack. You’ll need to use Oppo’s special adapter, which is included with the phone. Oppo R5 comes with 5.2-inch 1080p screen, 2GB of memory, and a 1.5GHz octa-core processor.
Despite phone makers flooding the market with cheap devices, Chinese company Oppo believes there’s potential in higher-end handsets, even in emerging markets. Oppo is looking towards emerging markets as the next battleground — the company cites compound growth figures of 30 percent for the last five years in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
