How to Root Galaxy Note 2 N7100 on XXUEML2 Jellybean 4.3 Firmware – Guide

Note: Though rooting voids the warranty, you can very well restore the lost warranty by applying the official firmware update of XXUEML2 by following the instructions mentioned in the corresponding link.

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • Backup all the data in your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with the help of below mentioned manual steps and not with the help of KIES since this update is still not yet pushed out globally.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • In your Galaxy Note 2, enable USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. Also, the minimum battery life should be a minimum of 50% to make sure that your Note 2 doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.

Procedure to Root Galaxy Note 2 Android Phone on XXUEML2 Android Phone:

  • Open Odin in your computer and turn off your device so that it can be entered in the Download mode.
  • Download Mode in Galaxy Note 2 can be entered by holding the Volume Down button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, you need to switch ON your device. If the device starts normally, you need to retry the process of entering the device in the download mode.
  • Once download mode is entered, connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable to see the ID: COM section turns yellow.
  • Once it turns Yellow, it indicates that all the required drivers are installed successfully.
  • Click on “PDA” to select the rooting file which you got after extracting the rooting zip file in the initial step. Click on “Start” to start the process of rooting. It will take around 1-3 minutes for rooting the device.
  • To check on whether the device is rooted or not, you need to download the Root Checker app from the Google PLAY Store.

Note: If at all your Galaxy Note 2 gets in the boot loop sequence then you need to turn off the device and then reapply the update from the start. To turn off you can reinsert the battery or say you can long press the power button for turning the device Off.
