How To Root Samsung Galaxy Nexus – Tutorial

Procedure to Root Galaxy Nexus Root:

  • First up you will have to download the Super boot installation package and then you need to extract the Zip file to the directory in your desktop. Please note that in the process of the extraction if it prompts you to enter the password then enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.
  • Now, after this you will have to turn ON your device in the boot loader mode. To boot the Galaxy Nexus in the boot loader mode, turn Off the phone first and then “Press the Volume Up, Volume Down Key and at the same time press the Power Button” to enter into the boot loader mode after which you will see the screen as shown in the below screen capture.

Next up, if you are on the Windows or the Mac based computers then you need to follow the below respective instructions.

For Windows Based Computers,
First up in your Windows Based computer, you need to connect the device to the computer using the USB cable and then head to the extracted files and click on “install-superboot-windows.bat”.

For MAC Based Computers:
In your Mac based computers, you need to run the terminal and then execute the following from the below directory location,

chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh

/install-superboot-mac.sh

For Linux Based Computers:
If you are on the Linux based computers, then you need to run the terminal from the directory containing the files which you have extracted and then you need to enter the following the command lines.

chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh

/install-superboot-linux.sh

  • Please note that just in case if you have followed the above steps carefully, then you will have the complete root access to your Galaxy Nexus and then you can do whatever you want with your phone like you can install the apps or other tweaks which are otherwise not possible if the phone is not rooted.
  • To get the successful root access, you will have to ensure that the boot loader is unlocked. Just in case if you are using any of the retail version of the device, then you can apply the below command to unlock the device.
