Step by step procedure to root Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 on Gingerbread JPKP5 2.3.4 firmware:
- Initially, you need to download rooting package of JPKP5 2.3.4 and save it on your desktop for easy access. After downloading the file, extract it and in the process of extraction you need to enter the password. So, enter ‘androidadvices.com’ as a password and extract the files.
- Check the extracted files list with the below screen shot and make sure that tar file and Odin tool is in it.
- From the extracted files list, open the Odin tool and turn Off your phone.
- Now turn ON your phone again to enter into the downloading mode. To enter into the downloading mode, just press volume DOWN key and OK button along with the Power button simultaneously. Refer to below video to know how to turn ON your phone in the downloading mode.

- Now connect the phone with PC (or laptop) using the USB cable. As soon as you connect the phone and PC, the ID:COM block will turn into yellow color indicating that all the necessary drivers installed successfully.
- Now, click on the PDA option in the Odin tool and select the tar file as shown below.

- After selecting the file in PDA, make sure that ‘Re-Partition’ is un-ticked. Now click on the start button to initiate the process of rooting. This process will take less than a minute and if it is taking long time then check with the ADMIN privileges and also with the USB ports.
- Once the rooting is over, your phone will restarts and that is the indication of completion of the rooting process. Now go to “Applications” and you will find the ‘Super User’ application with skull shaped icon. If you don’t find this icon, then it indicates that your phone is not rooted, so you need to apply the rooting process again.
- Now turn OFF your mobile and ON it back again to enter into the recovery mode. To enter into the recovery mode, press volume UP key and OK button along with the Power button simultaneously. Refer to below video to know how to turn ON your phone in the recovery mode.

- In recovery mode of your phone, you will see various options so choose the options like wipe data/factory reset and Wipe Cache partition. The touch interface will not work in the recovery mode so use volume UP and DOWN keys to scroll up and down. In the rooting process, some of the cache files will generates in your phone in order to damage some applications of your phone. So, to avoid any such damage on your phone we need to clean up all the cache files from the phone. After clearing all the cache files form the phone, just reboot it using the option ‘reboot system now’, and enter the language preferences and the Google account preferences again to bring back your phone again into the normal mode.
