Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 – Steps to Install ZCKJ1 Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware

Procedure to update Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 with Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware:

  • After downloading the Gingerbread 2.3.6 package for Galaxy S2 GT I9100, you now need to proceed to unzip the same. In the process of extraction if it prompts you to enter the password then enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.

  • Once the files are extracted to the folder in the desktop preferably, you will now need to match that whether extracted files match that of the files shown in the below screen capture or not. If any of the files are missing then you will have to download the zip file and unzip the same.

  • From the extracted files, open the Odin executable file in your computer and soon after that just turn Off the phone so that you can then enter your phone in the download mode.

  • Once the phone is turned Off, you need to enter into the download mode. Download mode can be entered by pressing the Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. You can also refer to the video below to know more on how you can enter into the download mode for more on how to enter into the download mode.

  • Now, once your phone gets into the download mode, with the help of the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase connect the phone with the computer. So, once you connect the phone ensure that Odin is already opened in the computer.

  • As soon as you connect the phone to the computer, the ID : COM section will turn yellow as shown in the screen capture below. This turning of yellow will signify that all the required drivers have been successfully installed and you are now ready to proceed to the next page.
  • Now, click on the “PDA” option in Odin to choose the file of “” and after double checking that the file is correctly selected click on the “Start” button to start the firmware updation process.

  • As soon as the firmware update process is done, the phone will be restarted automatically after which it may prompt you to enter the Google Account settings as well as the Language settings. Once these are entered you now need to turn off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode to clear all the cache files which are there in the phone.

  • The recovery mode can be entered by pressing  Volume UP on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. Now, in the recovery mode select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option. Once you are done with this you will now need to choose the option of “++++Go back++++” to go back and choose “Restart” option to restart the phone in the normal mode. Please note that this process may take longer time than expected sometimes, its not recommended to interrupt this process.

Note: Once the firmware is updated successfully, you will then have to re configure the APN settings as well as the MMS Settings so to access the data services and to send the MMS Messages as all the Internet and MMS Settings will be erased. You will have to contact your Service provider to get more info on the APN Settings. Not to forget also configure the MMS Settings. Also, you will have to restore the other contents as well as mentioned in the list of pre requisites if you have lost any data.
