Design – No plastic and dual curved screen

If you haven’t checked our hands-on with Galaxy S6, we recommend you to do that as they both shares the same design aesthetics, although, there is an obvious change that can be seen and truly liked about the S6 Edge, is its dual curved screens. For many years, company use to rely on the plastic body, even for its high-end smartphone range. But starting from late last year, we saw a metal frame on Note 4, a full metal Galaxy Alpha (which is mid high-ranger) and Galaxy A series, which all sported a metal builds. But with only S6 Edge company has shown an evolutionary leap in the design language. The S6 is not only attractive, but is compact, lightweight, and offers most comfortable feel in the hand.

Hardware – Best of all

The Galaxy S6 Edge features almost same specifications like a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Quad (2560 x 1440 pixels resolution) HD display and has the protection of the Gorilla Glass 4. The 2K display gives it the highest PPI (per pixel density) of 576. The device is powered by an Exynos 7420 chipset, which is a 64-bit Octa-core processor that is known for its 14nm design. It is supported by a Mali-T760 GPU and 3GB of RAM.

In camera department, the S6 Edge Sport a 16MP rear camera, and 5MP front facing camera. While the rear camera now boast a f/1.9 lens and OIS (optical image stabilization), the front camera has a wide-angle selfie feature.

Software – Snappier and Useful Edge functions

Sammy has finally done something good with its TouchWiz UI, which is not the most powerful skin you find on an Android smartphone. But with the latest Android Lollipop 5.0, company had a chance to think about its choices for the UI. Well, for the good part the interface is quite snappier at first use and have the Lollipop animations well executed like notification panel. But overall, it still looks like we are using the same UI for generations. As the DNA of the interface remains same, for the most visual part. The things to like about it is that it certainly takes quite a handful of advantage of the dual-edge screens.

Initial Thoughts

This is the most promising device from the South Korean giant. With dual-curved screen and certain other features, it is the most versatile smartphones Samsung has ever made it to the market. Even though, we are early in the year; it seems like the company has set a high standards for the other mobile vendors all over the world. We would be using this as our daily driver and share our detailed review soon. Stay Tuned to get more updates about this device.
