Sony Xperia E and Xperia E Dual Announced – Specs, Features and Availability

The Sony Xperia E and the E Dual Android smartphones, which were leaked around a week ago, are now officially announced by the company. These affordable Android smartphones are going to have a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with the low resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, while the processor of the phones would clock the speed of 1GHz.

The Xperia E has a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A chipset with a 1GHz CPU, and this is similar to the other Xperia device, the Xperia J. The Sony Xperia E would be powered by the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, while the Xperia E Dual would come in with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS which can be upgraded to the Jelly Bean OS. Both the phones would have a 3.2 megapixel camera on the rear side, which won’t be assisted by a flash. The camera would feature autofocus while capturing pictures, but the video recording is limited to the VGA quality.

The Xperia E has a thickness of 11mm, and the weight of the device would be 115.7 gm. The major difference between both the devices is clearly known with the name itself, as the Xperia E comes with a Single SIM function, while the Xperia E dual would have a Dual SIM capability.
The internal memory of the Xperia E is 4GB, of which the user gets to use only 2.2 GB but Sony has included the option to insert a Micro SD card for the extended storage, to the maximum of 32GB.

The battery of both the phones has a capacity of 1530mAh and according to Sony, this would be quite enough to provide 6 hours of HD Voice-enhanced talk time and up to 530 hours of Standby on 3G network. Music playback time is around 30 hours, and the video can be continuously played for 8 hours before the battery drains totally. Considering that the Xperia E is powered by the xLOUD Walkman treatment, the battery life claimed by the phone is quite good.

The connectivity options include the 3.5 mm audio jack, FM Radio with RDS 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi b/g/n, DLNA, GPS / aGPS and the phones would be available in three color options – Black, White and Pink. The Xperia E would be available from the first quarter of year 2013, while the Xperia E Dual would be coming in with the Black and Gold colors with the same time for availability.
