At the moment it’s raining Android tablets. With almost a dozen of tablets launched every month, the expectancy that the Android will beat iOS in terms of overall users will soon be a reality. Another tablet which is announced this month is from the makers of Toshiba coming up with Excite AT200 which is the successor of Toshiba Thrive.
The Toshiba Excite AT200 tablet was announced at IFA Berlin in September 2011 but went now where in the news until today where Toshiba Canada’s official splashes of its launch in early January 2012 starting in Canada. This will be the second tablet from the makers of Toshiba, from the previous Toshiba Thrive they got to learn a lesson and have come up with the thinnest tablet AT 200 thickness at only 7.7mm. It will be a 10 inches tablet with 1280 x 800 pixels maximum resolution and weights 558 grams. It power packs the powerful configuration with dual core Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 processor clocked at 1.2 Ghz and includes 1 GB of RAM.
It will include dual camera with 2 mega pixel front facing for video calls and 5 mega pixel camera at rear side with 1080p HD video recording. It will include SD card slot, USB, HDMI micro ports. It will be shipped with 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage capacities. It includes connectivity via Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth v 2.1. Check out complete specifications of Toshiba Excite. Sad to say that this tablet will be Android Honeycomb 3.2 powered as one would expect Android Ice Cream Sandwich be made available up front without user waiting and then upgrading it. There is no word on the price of this tablet and in the market where cheap tablet prevails like Amazon Kindle Fire at $ 199, we w0uld expect this tablet to be priced less than $ 400. Although there is no official announcement from Toshiba Canada.
