Procedure to install Clock Work MOD Recovery in Dell Streak 5:
- First up you will have to download the Clock Work Mod Recovery Zip File from here to your computer and then connect your phone to the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase and the you need to remove the USB cable and turn Off your phone to enter your phone in the recovery mode.
- The recovery mode can be entered by pressing the Volume Up key and Volume Down Key simultaneously after rebooting the phone.
- Now, as soon as you enter into the recovery mode, you will see an option called “apply sdcard : update.zip” after which you need to select the file which is named as “DELL_Streakrecovery-v0.3.2.8-beta” and then you need to wait till the process is completed.
Once the file update process is done, you will need to choose the option of “++++ Go Back ++++” and select the option of reboot system now.
So, in this way you have successfully installed the Clock Work Mod recovery in your Dell Streak 5.
Procedure to install the Dell Simple Streak Custom ROM in Dell Streak 5:
- Now, you need to download the Simple Streak Custom ROM Zip file in your computer and then after downloading connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase.
- Once connected, copy the zip file which you downloaded as it is to your phone without renaming or modifying the contents of the folder or renaming the file in any manner or else the firmware zip file won’t be working or getting detected.
- Now, turn Off the device so that you can then enter into the Clock Work Mod Recovery Mode. The recovery ode can be entered by pressing the Volume Up key and Volume Down Key simultaneously after rebooting the phone.
- Now, as soon as you enter into the recovery mode you will now have to select the option of “advanced” option as shown in the below screen capture which you can do with the help of the Volume keys.
- Now, once you get into the advanced mode, you will then need to select the “nandroid” option so as to create the backup of the phone so that the default firmware can be easily backed up along with all other user data. This is very useful when if just in case anything happens to your device as you can easily restore the device to the last known configuration.
- After this select the option of “apply sdcard : update.zip” followed after which there will be lot of folders and files which will be listed on the screen as mentioned in the below screen capture. Once you do so, you will then have to select the file which is named as “SimpleStreak_for_DELLStreak_5” after which the firmware application process will be commencing.
- After a period of 10 minutes, the whole process of the firmware update will be finished and then you will see then land up on the recovery mode screen. Now all you need to do is to select the option of “++++ Go Back ++++” and choose to “reboot system now” to get back and reboot he system.
Note: Don’t forget to restore the things which you taken the backup from the list of pre requisites which was mentioned earlier.
Optional Step:
Just in case if you are facing issues like the force close errors or like say the frequent apps close errors or script errors then you need to first turn off your phone so that you can enter into the recovery mode.
In the recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option so that all the cache data which is there in the phone will get erased and the firmware will be installed correctly.
