Unfortunately, as of now there are no details of by when there will be an official firmware update released by Samsung based on Jellybean 4.2.2, you can very well apply this update in your device. All thanks to the Slim bean ROM Makers who have worked hard to make a stable firmware. Pre Requisites:

  • All the data in your Galaxy S2 GT I9100 including the Contacts, SMS etc. which are mentioned below should be backed up manually with the help of below steps ONLY. Don’t use ROM Manager or KIES to back up the data as it may won’t help you restore in custom ROM firmwares.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log –Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”

  • Ensure that the minimum charge left in your phone is 40%+ or else there is a risk of device getting turned off in the middle of firmware update. Also, you need to enable the USB Debugging Mode in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”.

  • Clear the Cache memory in your device by entering your device in the recovery mode. Recovery Mode in Galaxy S2 can be entered by pressing the Volume Up rocker key + Menu Button and holding these both, press the power button at the same time while the device is turned Off. In recovery mode, select options to clear data and to wipe the cache data after which you need to select “reboot system now” for rebooting the device in the normal mode.

So, assuming that you are done with all the above mentioned steps, you can now proceed to the next step where we have mentioned a detailed guide on how to apply this Slim BEAN Custom ROM firmware for your Galaxy S2 smartphone.

Procedure to Update Galaxy S2 GT I9100G with Slim Bean ROM:

  • Download Slim Bean ROM Firmware from here to your computer and then you need to place the same in your Galaxy S2 smartphone. Disconnect the device from computer once you place the zip file in the device.
  • After placing the files in your device, download the “ROM Manager” app from the Google PLAY Store. Now, all you need to do is to disconnect the device from computer and enter your Galaxy S2 in the recovery mode. You can either enter the device in the recovery mode with the help of ROM manager app or manually with the help of below mentioned step.
  • Turn Off your phone so that it can be entered in the download mode. Recovery mode in Galaxy S2 GT I9100 can be entered by pressing Volume Up Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button after which you will get to see a green robot indicating that the device has entered in the recovery mode.
  • In recovery mode, select “install zip from SD Card” and choose the firmware zip file which you have placed in your device. Note: Just in a rare case if your Samsung device refuses to turn ON or say if it gets stuck on the Samsung Logo then you need to long press the power button to turn off the same or re insert the battery to start the process from beginning.
