How to Update Google Nexus S 4G CDMA with ICS Android 4.0.4 Firmware Manually

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Ensure that the minimum charge left in the phone is a minimum of 60% so as to ensure that the phone doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update process. Also, enable the USB DEBUGGING from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging” after which you need to tick on the USB Debugging option as shown in the below screen capture.

  • Uninstall all the security as well as antivirus suites installed in your computer so as these tools generally tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.
